Kent Lodge:
Kent Lodge is located at 358 High Street,
Dannevirke, which is a small provincial town in the
Tararua region of New Zealand’s North Island.
Kent Lodge is one of the few large villas remaining in the town - most have either been relocated to other areas or demolished. We are currently compiling a history of the property and will upload this to our website upon completion.
The property currently belongs to Malcolm's parents and consists of the 3500 square foot villa and 6 hectares of land bordering the Manawatu Stream.
Unfortunately at present we are not open for farm visits, due to the fact that we live 20kms away in Norsewood, but we hope to have a shop on-farm at some stage in the future - watch this space!!
Our Plants and Products:
Malcolm and Judith Smith established Kent Lodge Lavender in April 2000 with an initial planting of 600 Lavandula x Intermedia “Grosso” cuttings. Our plant numbers in Dannevirke now total 1400 with another 370 plants grown in Masterton by Colin and Kay Jackson. Our range of Lavender products are made incorporating the Lavender Essential Oil extracted from these plants. The 2008 harvest just completed yielded over 25 litres of lavender essential oil from the Dannevirke plants and between 2 and 3 litres from the plants in Masterton.
At Kent Lodge Lavender, we are justifiably proud of the fact that we control the creation of our Lavender products from planting to marketing. After harvesting the flower heads in February, the Lavender Essential Oil is extracted using the process of steam distillation. The oil is then stored and allowed to mature before we process it into a range of luxurious, soothing products for you and your family to enjoy.
All Kent Lodge Lavender products are made using natural ingredients and extracts – we fail to see the logic behind incorporating a naturally produced Lavender Essential Oil into a base containing synthetic chemicals. Check out our "
Testimonials" page to see what some of our customers have said about our products.
Kent Lodge Lavender products are gentle on the skin and are suitable for all skin types but, as with all products of this nature, you should test a small amount first. Alternatively, you may wish to dilute with a “carrier oil” such as Sweet Almond or Grape Seed oil.
Lavender Essential Oil has been used throughout the ages to soothe, heal and to promote well-being – we hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy bringing them to you! From time to time we will be running special offers - don't forget to check them out on our "Special Offers" page!
